Since most of you who read this blog are either working on an MA or are finished one, I would like to know your answers to the following question:
Are liberal arts universities the academic equivalent to car manufacturers?
Is the MA the new BA?

I think it all depends on the MA program. I can only speak for the polisci world, but some schools will let you receive an MA without a thesis or independent research. In those cases, I think it's just a glorified BA.
With programs that go beyond coursework, I don't think the MA is the new BA. I think there is something qualitatively different.
But I haven't begun my MA yet, so what do I know, right?
